Katharsis – the quantum leap into the uncertain.

The recording of a thundererous waterfall is the only raw material from which the score is produced: Sounds, sound processes, melodies, rhythms, space divison. Bert Gstettner’s choreography is an attempt on a modern-archaic ritual.

Katharsis – derived from katharma: a cult sacrifice which was carried out through the Polis to attract all the mean germs and negative energies within that community before itself being executed.

In the first part everything is destroyed by watermass. In the second part the leftovers are burnt into ash. In the third the wind disperses the ash in all directions. What else should still come? Katharsis – in the center of the metamorphosis.

Katharsis – purification, purgation, flowing out and secretion.

What possibilities does contemporary movement theater have in terms of cathartic processes? When does a cathartic state begin, and when does it end? Is catharsis cyclical? Can there be catharsis without fear and pity?

Katharsis - to become aware of the marking in the vague.
